Our project aims to build an analyzing tool to be plugged into SkyApp to support the needs of teachers in understanding students' learning performances and challenges faced. SkyApp is an educational mobile application will be launched in 2 primary schools in HK to help teachers improve their effectiveness of teaching. Building students' learning profiles becomes an easier job with SkyApp because it captures fine-grained data during its interaction with the user.
By applying data mining techniques, meaningful information could be retrieved from records of participation in activities. Students' learning profiles can be build when an effective analyzing tool is plugged-in.
Teachers can easily create e-learning activities and then distributed to students in a class, view statistics of students' performances in different parameters. Teachers will be also be able to tell which are the challenging questions based on students' responses on SkyApp.
Students will be able to view their overall performance and identify their weaknesses. Also, with the implementation of classifying students' learning patterns, both students and teachers get a better clue on strategies to improve one's learning. For instances, a student who did not spend enough time on their work could put more effort to improve themselves. Students with short attention span and poorer numerical sense could possibily be identified with the help of this analyzing tool.
Teachers' SkyApp
(1) Teacher captures worksheet and creates answer boxs with answers but locked from students' view.
(2) Teacher tags lesson information.
(3) Teacher chooses participants of activities and distribute.
