Point Cloud Fitting

In order to approximate the shape of a set of unorganized, possibly noisy data points, which are often called a point cloud, we introduce a new SD error term which is measured in the direction from a data point to the fitting curve, which is opposite to the direction used in [Pottmann et al. 2002]. This difference in the direction of error measurement leads to a new SDM approach to fitting a B-spline curve to a point cloud.
