Application Details of 3 on 3 Basketball Competition<\/span><\/h6>\n

1. To apply, please e-mail to csa@cs.hku.hk (With team members’ name, contact number and UID).<\/span>
2. Application deadline is 1500, 16th November, 2012.<\/span>
3. Fixtures will be announced before the competition.<\/span><\/p>\n

Teams<\/span><\/h6>\n

Each team shall consist of a maximum of five (5) players.<\/span>
There must be at least one (1) player is the member of CSA, ENS, HKUSU in every team.<\/span><\/p>\n

Playing Time<\/span><\/span><\/h6>\n

The regular playing time shall be ten (10) minutes.<\/span>
If the score is tied at the end of the last period, the game shall continue with an overtime periods of two (2) minutes as is necessary to break the tie.<\/span><\/p>\n

Competition System<\/span><\/h6>\n

The competition is using elimination series.<\/span><\/p>\n

Beginning of the game<\/span><\/h6>\n

A coin flip will be used to determine which team will begin with the ball at midcourt.<\/span>
The team which does not have the ball possession shall be entitled to the ball at the next jump ball situation in accordance with the alternating possession arrow rule. The arrow will be directed to the bench of the team which is entitled to the ball at the next alternating possession opportunity.<\/span>
A team shall lose the game by forfeit (20:0) if three (3) minutes after the scheduled starting time the team is not present on the playing court with three (3) players ready to play.<\/span><\/p>\n

Twenty second device<\/span><\/h6>\n

The team must attempt a shot for a field goal within twenty (20) seconds.<\/span><\/p>\n

Take back line<\/span><\/h6>\n

The take back line is an area outside the three point line.<\/span>
Out-of-bounds, violations, fouls or game suspended by the referee, shall be resume at the take back line.<\/span>
The ball shall be checked by the referee.<\/span><\/p>\n

Start of play<\/span><\/h6>\n

The offensive players must presence in three-point field region (behind the three-point line) before the play. Offensive player must pass the ball into play.<\/span>
The defensive players must presence in two-point field region before the play. The defensive players cannot steal the first pass of offensive team.<\/span><\/p>\n

Out-of-bound<\/span><\/h6>\n

If the offensive team has the ball possession, it shall resume the game with the remaining time at the take back line.<\/span>
If the defensive team has the ball possession, it shall resume the game with twenty (20) seconds at the take back line.<\/span><\/p>\n

Following each successful field goal or<\/span> last free throw<\/span><\/span><\/h6>\n

Non-scoring team resume the game at the take back line.<\/span><\/p>\n

Following each unsuccessful field goal<\/span><\/h6>\n

If the offensive team gets the rebound, it may continue to attempt the score without returning the ball to behind the three-point line.<\/span>
If the defensive team gets the rebound, it must return the ball (by passing or dribbling) behind the three-point line. Both feet of the dribbler must be totally behind the ‘take back’ line before offence can commence.<\/span><\/p>\n

There will be “2-minute left” announcement. After the announcement it is not allowed to call for a time-out or change player.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dead ball<\/span><\/h6>\n

Dead ball include successful field goal or last free throw, out-of-bounds, violations, fouls or game suspended by the referee, the game clock continue.<\/span><\/p>\n

Substitution<\/span><\/h6>\n

Substitution can be made after any dead ball until two (2) minutes left.<\/span><\/p>\n

Timeout<\/span><\/h6>\n

Timeout can be made after any dead ball until two (2) minutes left.<\/span>
Each team is allowed one thirty-second (30) timeout per game.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fouls<\/span><\/h6>\n

If the offended player is attempting a successful field goal, the field goal is count and one (1) free throw will be awarded.<\/span>
If the offended player is attempting an unsuccessful field goal, two (2) or three (3) free throws will be awarded.<\/span>
If the offended player is not attempting field goal, offensive team shall resume the game at the take back line.<\/span>
If the offended player is not attempting field goal, and the defensive team is in a penalty foul situation, two (2) free throws will be awarded unless a more critical penalty.<\/span>

Team foul<\/span><\/h6>\n

A team is in penalty foul situation when it is committed four (4) team fouls in a game.<\/span><\/p>\n

Technical fouls<\/span><\/h6>\n

The offended team is awarded two (2) free throws. All other players must presence in three-point field region (behind the three-point line) during free throw.<\/span>
The offended team has the ball possession after free throw.<\/span><\/p>\n

Game tie<\/span><\/h6>\n

In the event of a draw at the end, three (3) minutes overtime period will be played.<\/span>
Ball possession goes with the alternating possession arrow rule.<\/span>
If over time period result in a draw, a “golden free throw” is used to break the tie. The first to then miss on equal alternate free throw shall lose. Foul out players may not compete.<\/span><\/p>\n
