Research and Development

In this project, we shall develop the next generation digital video recorder (DVR) with the new technology analytic-friendly compression technique. The next generation DVR will then used in a distributed environment to support another new technology to be developed, called distributed retrieval technique. With the 2 new technologies, we are able to perform real-time video recording and indexing, and efficient video retrieval for large scale surveillance system. To support the development, we shall innovatively use existing technologies in image processing, computer visions, database, and distributed system architecture.
